Just make the Granny cookies, and then the frosting

Just Like Lofthouse Easy Pink Sugar Cookie Frosting

25 servings 10 min 10 min prep

2 1/2 cups powdered sugar

1/4 cup softened butter (no subs)

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon vanilla

3 tablespoons milk or half-and-half cream

5 drops red food coloring

Directions are simple-- using a handheld mixer and a small bowl or a food processor with a smaller bowl-- beat all ingredients until well mixed.

Start slow or you will be covered with powdered sugar. :).

The consistency should not be too firm, but also not runny. It should hesitatingly drip/plop from your spatula if you scoop up a dollop and hold it over the bowl.

Use an extra tablespoon of cream, or of powdered sugar to regulate the thickness.

It is best to ice the cooled cookies with the frosting right after you make it, as it will almost be perfectly smooth when it sets.

Know that if you put it in the fridge it will firm up to almost twice as hard as it is right after you mix it, and when it is cold you can use the mixer on it again to ';fluff it up'; for other applications like cupcakes.

It makes about a cup and a half of frosting.

  • Can I use Crisco instead of butter in a cookie recipe??

I have everything to make chocolate chip cookies except butter. I do have Crisco though. Will it make a huge difference if I use that instead?

Can I use Crisco instead of butter in a cookie recipe??
Nooooooooo---use applesauce it's way healther. You can substitute applesauce for oil or butter ~~ anytime. Can I use Crisco instead of butter in a cookie recipe??
Yoou can if you wish. It can make them softer. But if the recipe says to cook for 10-12 minutes, cook for 8-10, remove from oven and let cool on baking sheets. Real butter is best though.

    Good Luck!

    Hope this helps
Yes you can. It will make them thicker and chewier. But that's a good thing!
Yes, go to crisco.com for a recipe
I've always used crisco in my cookies.
    eeew no to crisco!
Yes, you can use Crisco. However, it is NOT a 1:1 ratio. For every cup of butter, use 1 cup of Crisco with 6 teaspoons of water. Crisco has a lower melting point, so the cookies will be a little puffier, and less crispy, but they'll turn out fine.

Can I replace shortening w/ butter for a sugar cookie recipe?

i do not have any shortening and would like to make sugar cookies w/ my toddler for halloween. The recipe calls for 2/3 C of shortening, can I replace that w/ butter and if so how much? Can I replace shortening w/ butter for a sugar cookie recipe?
    My recipe is

    2 3/4 cups flour

    1 teaspoon baking soda

    1/2 teaspoon baking powder

    1 cup butter, softened

    1 1/2 cups white sugar

    1 egg

    1 teaspoon vanilla extract

    DIRECTIONS

Preheat oven to 190 degrees C

In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.

In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in egg and vanilla. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients. Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls, and place onto ungreased cookie sheets.

Bake 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden. Let stand on cookie sheet two minutes before removing to cool on wire racks.

I ALWAYS USE BUTTER and I always use this recipe they come out fine.

Can I replace shortening w/ butter for a sugar cookie recipe?
it would be better to use stick margarine but if all you have is butter, it will work. Watch the cookies closely as butter browns quicker and the cookies may be dryer than usual. You will need to store them in the frig if you use butter and you have them for more than 24 hours.
You can use butter instead. The rule of thumb is 1 to 1, meaning use the same amount of butter as you would shortening. I usually add a little more of the butter. For your recipe it would be about 2 tablespoons more.
I always use butter or margarine instead of shortening %26amp; I use the same amount.

    1 stick = 8 tbls. or 1/2 cup

    1/3 cup = 5 tbls.

    2/3 cup = 10 tbls.

Looks like you would need 1 stick + 2 tbls.

You can always do that - shortening is only a cheaper and slightly healthier substitute. In any recipe just use butter if you have it, always in the same amount. Butter is much more tasty!
Absolutely. Just make sure you let the butter come to room temperature first.
Yes, of course. If you do add butter, just remember to omit the salt in the recipe. Butter already has salt.
yes, it should be fine. just remember they will be more buttery than if you used shortening
I always use butter so yes, go ahead. Same amount.
yes, go ahead. All the best.......

If I have a cookie recipe that uses Jell-O, do I use gelatin or pudding Jell-O?

    3 1/2 c. flour

    1 tsp. baking powder

    1 1/2 c. butter

    1 c. sugar

1 (3 oz.) pkg. Jello, any flavor

    1 egg

    1 tsp. vanilla

Do I use Jell-O gelatin mix?If I have a cookie recipe that uses Jell-O, do I use gelatin or pudding Jell-O?
There are apparently several Jell-o gelatin cookie recipes

    see here:

    http://www.cooks.com/rec/search?=%26amp;q=jell鈥?/a>

AND there are pudding cookie recipes too!

    http://www.cooks.com/rec/search/0,1-0,je鈥?/a>

Hope this is helpful! If I have a cookie recipe that uses Jell-O, do I use gelatin or pudding Jell-O?
gelatin, you do not use pudding mix in cookies....
try one of each.....the jello gelatin will give it a fruity flavor where as the pudding will give it a cake like flavor.....
If they wanted you to use pudding jello they say ';Jello Pudding'; so there would be no misunderstanding it. Use the regular Jello.
i'm not sure....i guess I would say gelatin because i've never heard of adding pudding mixture with a recipe that also calls for flour.

    sorry...just a guess
I would think Jello like the strawberry or grape or something. Not the pudding but the actual flavored Jello.
I think that you should use the pudding (if you have ever gone down the baking isle, you will find that the cake mixes have alot of pudding in them) and i think that you should try the pudding first, if it fails, then use the jello.
What is the name of the recipe?. Do they provide a picture...pease explain.
My educated guess is to use regular jiggly jello only due to the reference of it being one 3 oz package and that's the size the small packets of jello are.

I have never seen a recipe with jello in it like that before, let us know how it turns out if you try them?

May the joy , hope, peace and love of the season be with you and yours.
    the pudding jello
more than likely its gona be pudding hun.... but that what i assume it would be....

Does anyone have an easy Cake or Cookie recipe that originates in Scandinavia?

    SCANDINAVIAN BROWNED BUTTER COOKIE ';DREAMS';

    1 cup unsalted butter

    3/4 cup sugar

    1 egg yolk

    2 teaspoons vanilla extract

    1/2 teaspoon freshly ground cardamom

    1/8 teaspoon salt

    2 cups all-purpose flour

    1 egg white

    1/3 cup blanched whole almonds

    1/2 cup powdered sugar

In a heavy skillet, over medium-low heat, without stirring, melt the butter and allow it to brown (it should take about 15 minutes).

Strain the browned butter through a fine sieve into a metal mixing bowl.

Place over a bowl of cold water and chill until firm.

Stir in the sugar, egg yolk, vanilla, cardamom, and salt.

    Beat until light and fluffy.

    Preheat oven to 350 F.

Slowly blend in the flour until the dough is well blended and smooth.

Roll the dough into small balls, using about 2 measuring teaspoons of dough for each one.

Place the dough balls on ungreased baking sheets.

Dip the almonds into the egg white, then press one into the centre of each cookie.

Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, until the cookies are set but not yet colored.

Transfer to a wire rack and dust with powdered sugar.

This is a very easy recipe that isn't too sweet.

    1/4 cup butter

1 1/2 cups Zwieback crumbs or other fine bread crumbs. (Zwieback is the weird toast stuff that we feed babies. I find that any bread crumbs will do, I have also tossed in some graham crack crumbs mixed with regular bread crumbs.)

    2 cups apple sauce.

Melt butter in sillet, add brad crumbs and saute until nicely brown, stirring constantly

Layer brad crumbs and apple sauce in buttered baking dish (a small pie pan works great). Three layers of bread crumbs and two layers of apple sauce. Layer 1, 3 and 5, bread crumbs, 2 and 4 are apple sauce.

Bake at 350 for 30 min. Cool and unmold. This makes 4 servings.

Garnish with whipped cream or powdered sugar. This is really good with just reddy whip or cool whip. If you really want to be traditional you can also serve this with a swedish vanilla sauce. here is the recipe for that.

1/2 gallon vanilla ice cream, softened

    DIRECTIONS

In a large bowl, mix together the cake mix, butter, vanilla extract, eggs, chocolate chips, and butterscotch chips. Roll dough into 2-inch balls and place them onto the prepared baking sheets. Bake for 10 minutes in the preheated oven. Do not overbake; the cookies should be set, but still soft. Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before removing to finish cooling on wire racks.

Using an ice cream scoop, mold the softened ice cream into a ball about the size of the cookies. Place scoop of ice cream between two cookies and gently press together. If you like a smooth edge, run the back of a spoon around the edge of the ice cream sandwich. Working quickly, fill all of the cookies, lay out on a baking sheet, and place in the freezer to harden. Serve when the ice cream has frozen solid. Sandwich cookies can be stored in a freezer bag for up to two weeks.

Make-Ahead Tip: Wrap rolls of dough in plastic wrap. Place in an airtight or

freezer container and freeze up to 1 month. To use, thaw just until soft enough

to slice. Or, cool baked cookies completely. In an airtight or freezer

container, arrange cookies in a single layer; cover with a sheet of waxed

    I love cookies!!!!

There are many good recipes out there, and I'm not sure what you are looking for. I love chocolate chip, and that's always good, but I usually use the Pillsbury dough for that.

One I actually made from scratch was on the back of the Jiff peanut butter bottle (3 guesses as to what type of cookie it was!)

and I added chocolate chips-mmmmmmmm! Delicious!
I use yellow cake mix ( follow dir. but, leave out the water), add mini chocolate chips, drop by rounded teaspoons, and bake. How much simplier can it get. Bake at 350 for 5-8 minutes or til golden brown..

    MELT IN YOUR MOUTH CHOCOLATE

    CHIPS COOKIES

    Dry Ingredients:

    2 1/4 cups flour

    1 teaspoon of salt

    1 teaspoon of baking soda

    Wet Ingredients:

    3/4 cup white sugar

1/2 cup (pressed) dark brown sugar

1/4 cup (pressed) light brown sugar

2 heaping tablespoons creamy peanut butter

    1 tablespoon maple syrup

    1 teaspoon vanilla syrup

    1 cup butter

    Add last:

    24 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips

16 oz plain no salt added peanuts

Cream the butter and white sugar, add peanut butter, vanilla extract, and maple syrup. Add both the light and dark brown sugar.

Tip: pressing the brown sugar helps reduce little hard sugar balls in the batter.

Combine dry ingredients and sift into wet mixture thoroughly. Add chocolate chips and peanuts, if desired.

This batter is very good with white chocolate chips and even better with butterscotch chips!

Use a teaspoon to measure the cookies size and bake for about 8-10 minutes.

Bake at 375掳F. Watch carefully and do not allow to brown. If cookies are browning too quickly, reduce heat, if not baking quickly enough, increase heat according to what your oven requires to bake cookies in 8-10 minutes.

Best served warm with milk!Does anybody know a GOOD chocolate chip cookie recipe?
try no bake cookies....you dont have to bake them and they stay soft!

    plus, they are yummy!
    One stick of butter

    1/2 cup of shortening

Cream these two items together in your mixer until light and fluffy. Then add:

    1 cup of brown sugar

    1/2 cup of granulated sugar

Cream these into the butter and shortening until all the sugar is mixed in well. By adding more brown sugar and reducing the granulated sugar, you will have a cookie that is more moist.

    2 eggs

Add eggs one at a time and mix the whole mess until it is fluffy again.

Then add these while your mixer is on the lowest setting:

    1/2 teaspoon of salt

    1 teaspoon of baking soda

    3 cups of flour

After the flour is all mixed in, add your chocolate chips and any other wonderful add-ins you like.

Bake these at 325 until the edges are brown and the middles still are just a bit soft.

If you wrap each cookie in plastic wrap when they are just warm enough to handle without falling apart, they will stay moister.

Cream together shortening, brown sugar, sugar and vanilla until light and fluffy. Add eggs, beat well. Combine dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture. Gently stir in chocolate chips. Drop by heaping spoonfuls onto a greased baking sheet. A small ice cream scoop works well. If using a 12'; baking sheet, about 8 cookies will fit at one time.
