No honey, that is two totally different things. You will need to get flour. Corn meal is used to make things like hush puppies or as coatings to fry something. It is not flour. I repeat, DO NOT USE CORN MEAL IN SUGAR COOKIES!! GO GET FLOUR!!! I don't want you to ruin your cookies. Can I use yellow corn meal in a sugar cookie recipe instead of flour? I ran out of flour...?
It can't hurt to experiment. That's probably how lots of great new recipes came about. Go ahead and try it. Maybe it'll be good, maybe it'll be awful, but either way you'll learn something about baking cookies. It's not like you've got a ton of money invested in this batch of cookies. You can afford to take a chance on something new and different. Can I use yellow corn meal in a sugar cookie recipe instead of flour? I ran out of flour...?
No! That would not only be gross, it would not give you anywhere near the same result. Go get yourself some flour. Do you have any cake mixes? You could use some of that ... but you would need to alter your recipe as well.
Nope...sorry. Only flour will do in this situation.
Good Luck!
The Coach

yea if you want ot throw thema away cause they will be gross
I am sorry to communicate that you cannot substitute flour and corn meal, they are so different in texture and cooking/baking properties, you need flour because of gluten, otherwise you will get probably a very dry and grainy ';cookie';,and I don't think that is what you want to get, but if you try please let me know, I am very curious always with the results of everything, I have been pastry chef for years and an expert in Rustic italian breads.
