Soft Sugar Cookies
Ingredients
3 1/4 cups All purpose flour sift before measuring
1 tsp. Baking soda
1/2 tsp. Salt
1/2 cup butter room temperature
1 cup Granulated sugar
1 Egg
1 1/2 tsp. Vanilla
1/2 cup Sour cream
Preparation
Into a bowl, sift together the sifted flour, baking soda, and salt. In a mixing bowl, cream butter, sugar, egg, and vanilla with the electric mixer. Beat for 2 minutes. Add sour cream and half of flour mixture;beat 1 minute. Stir in remaining dry ingredients with a wooden spoon. Roll dough into walnut size balls and press with hands to flatten. Place on greased cookie sheet; bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes. Makes about 6 dozen.
Double Chocolate Gooey Butter Cake
Ingredients
Butter, for greasing pan, plus 16 tablespoons (2 sticks) butter, melted
1 (18.25 ounce) package Chocolate cake mix
1 Egg, plus 2 eggs
1 (8-ounce) package Cream cheese, softened
3 to 4 tablespoons Cocoa powder
1 (16-ounce) box Powdered sugar
1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
1 cup Chopped nuts
Preparation
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Lightly grease a 13 by 9-inch baking pan. In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, 1 egg, and 8 tablespoons (1 stick) melted butter, and stir until well blended. Pat mixture into prepared pan and set aside. In a stand mixer, or with a hand mixer, beat the cream cheese until smooth. Add the remaining 2 eggs, and the cocoa powder. Lower the speed of the mixer, and add the powdered sugar. Continue beating until ingredients are well mixed. Slowly add the remaining 8 tablespoons (1 stick) of melted butter, and the vanilla, continuing to beat the mixture until smooth. Stir in nuts with a rubber spatula. Spread filling over cake mixture in pan. Bake for 40 to 50 minutes. Be careful not to overcook the cake; the center should still be a little gooey when finished baking. Cracked Sugar Cookies I

4 dozen
1 1/4 cups white sugar
1 cup butter
3 egg yolks
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C). Lightly grease 2 cookie sheets.
Cream together sugar and butter. Beat in egg yolks and vanilla.
Add flour, baking soda, and cream of tartar. Stir.
Form dough into walnut size balls and place 2 inches apart on cookie sheet. Don't flatten. Bake 10 to 11 minutes, until tops are cracked and just turning color.
